Crown & Tiara Swap ~ Spoiler Warning!

On Sunday when I got home from Sparkle Bella, I found the sweetest treat of all waiting for me. Before unpacking, before even bringing my bags off the porch, I spied a package I hoped would be waiting for me. It was from Holly of Holly Doodle Designs. She hosted the best swap ever (it takes a real princess to dream up these kinda swaps). It was her Crown & Tiara swap, and she choose me as one of her swap partners. Take a look at the glam~O~Rama this girl creates! Needless to say, I LoVe iT!! She has got a definite knack for making these tiaras, and I may have to have another for this little cutie's first birthday.

I snapped a few photo's of the tiara I made for Holly, and thou she hasn't received it yet (it's on its way), I thought I'd share it with you all. I have no delusions of being as talented as she in the tiara making department, but am hoping she likes it regardless. We passed along to one another photos we used as inspiration. Here is what I came up with.

Holly I have so enjoyed being in this swap with you. I am thrilled and honored that you choose me as your swap partner. Thanks so much for your generosity, friendship and of course for my beautiful tiara. I hope you wear yours as the creative diva you are!

xoxo, Dede

Inspiration Overload ~ part deux

Mystic Paper was a definite favorite of mine in Phoenix. It is a mix of The Art Bar and a scrapbook store. The owner Jennifer so fell in love with Orange County's own Art Bar that after seeing it, she was inspired to open her own shoppe. It is wonderful! If I lived closer this could easily become my home away from home! Kim and Jennifer have a real gem in this sweet place, a creators haven for sure. Oh, and note the pictures that line the top of the ceiling, those are all family and friends of theirs! Don't you love that?!

Sparkle Bella, Sparkle Bella, Sparkle Bella~ what to say!? Kim Kwan, Teresa McFayden, Marilyn Healey, and Carolyn Peeler created great projects for us. I don't about you, but lots of times I'll take a class with a teachers who's style I like even if the project isn't a favorite. I find I learn so much in classes gleaning bits and pieces of information from these women. Well all the projects we made are keepers. Take a peek ... oh, and check out Miss Bella herself. Can you see the sparkle in her eyes? What a princess!

These are the spoons from the spoon swap. I had no idea what to expect in an altered spoon swap, but I never could have imagined this kind of talent. they really were unbelievable.
And these two sweeties Annette and Kathie, made EVERYONE a book! Each was different, this is the one I chose. Thanks again, I just love my new journal. I think I will take it to Silver Bella and use it as my trip journal!

This weekend in Phoenix was my first time traveling for classes. A year ago I would have told you I was not one to take classes. But I am a changed woman. I like the sharing and inspiring that goes hand in hand with classes. I learn not only from the teachers, but also from the others in the classes. Thanks to all of you for a great weekend! See you Bella's in November.

Phoenix Shopping Extravaganza!

For the past year I have heard of heaps of great shopping spots in Phoenix. One of the girls in our Bella Bunch, Kim planned and plotted our shopping route down to the tiniest detail. She did a phenomenal job, and the shops did not disappoint! Kim had mapquested each destination complete with driving directions from one shoppe to the next, store hours, customer comments and more. Probably the only thing I didn't take a pic of was her folder which she referred to as {{the paperwork}} all weekend. LOL, so funny! But let me tell ya, that paperwork and Kim's hard work delivered! We founds scads of great stuff, and each of us being the shopping diva's we are, cheered each other on as we found one great thing after another. I so appreciate that women don't once consider how they and all their trinkets, and the trinkets of 3 others will mash into one car to head for the 6 hour trip home. Oy, the fun of it all, good times!

Melrose Vintage was one shoppe I REALLY wanted to see. And see it we did, ever nook and cranny.

That Helle is one snappy dresser, let me tell you!! So stinkin cute! Another amazing store is Domestic Bliss in downtown Mesa. After seeing this store, I want to complete redecorate my little love shack.

That's all for today folks. Stay tuned for tomorrows slide show featuring photos from Mystic Paper (super love), and Sparkle Bella.

Ciao chickas, xoxo...

I second that emotion!

This week Michele wrote about the obsession swaps can become. I couldn't agree more! And wallpaper... don't even get me started. I have been buying it up like mad! I feel like Sam I Am.

Would you, could you in a house? Yes I would, in a house, and with a mouse, in a car, or on a bar. I love wallpaper in a car, and on a bar. I love wallpaper near or far.

That is one reason I am looking forward to Pam Garrison's class at Silver Bella. I am hoping this Grand Dame of Wallpaper, will show me what to do with all of it!

I have also been swapping and trading like crazy. Here are a few of the great things that I've gotten in the post the past couple of weeks. This great paper pack below was sent to me by Marilyn. It was my vintage paper pack from her swap by the same name. There is old wallpaper and LOTS of goodness in this little baby {ethyn's newest quote}.
This paper pack is an artist trade I got from Heather. I am so bad (aka:late)! I asked her about doing a trade, and I just got her pack off to her. I am so sorry for being so late in sending mine! It is on it's way at LONG last.
This bundle is from a trade I did with Bonnie who lives in Africa (which is amazing to me, though I don't know why). I love the idea of getting something from so far away. I love all the things she sent. Oh... and I will post photo's of the great ATC's she sent me as well. I so love these little pieces of art, but afraid I am no good at making them myself. So glad Bonnie was willing to send me hers anyways. Just love them!
Of course it wouldn't be the weekend with a little jaunt to the Flea Market this morning... and it didn't disappoint! I got all these great rosaries from a woman for free! I have wanted a rosary for soo long but they can be really expensive (especially when you want to break it apart for art and other stuff). When I asked this morning how much the bag full of these were the lady told me I could have them, because she thought it would be wrong to take money for them! Aren't they great?! Some are just cheap plastic but others are really beautiful! Now I can't imagine tearing them apart, and plan to hang them as a group on my hutch in my scraproom.
These fab vintage flowers below were $1 each. Happy, happy, happy!
I was looking for French images for a new little book and box I am working on. I was happy to find these for only $3. I know they are reproduction, but no matter. I think the images will be perfect for my little project.

These maybe my favorite find today. I got all these vintage buttons for $10. I think I will use some in my art journals, and the others to spruse up an old sweater or two.

I am absolutely wiped out this past week. I finished helping a girlfriend with a couple of projects for CKU. She (her store Scrapbook Oasis) is a sponsor and wanted to make 400 felt bags as giveaways to the participants. Yes, 400! She also asked me if I could make a few aprons for the girls and volunteers to wear over the weekend. I think they all turned out darling. But it sure kicked my butt! Don't worry I made out like a bandit in our own little swap~a~roo. She and her husband went to Paris in the midst of all this, and went to the famed Paris Flea Market for me and brought back SO MUCH stuff as my reward for the sewing! I lOVE everything, and am sorry I haven't taken pictures of it all. I just stare and it, and shake my head at how lucky I am to have such good friends. Thanks Karen and Jeff, you guys are the best!
Thanks to ALL of you girls, that so generously send me such great new stuff for me to create with. I am obviously open to trades so if you are so inclined... just let me know! Have great week, and happy Fathers Day to all the great dad's out there!

Summer lovin, had me a blast!

We had a great weekend at Big Bear... great company, good food, beautiful weather. My husband is an archer and there was a carp shoot going on to rid the lake of all those icky fish. Oy, they smell! We took Ethyn (my grandson) and he loved it! We shared a cabin with another family, 12 of us in all (8 kids from 4 to 19). It was a lot of fun to be around so many. It's been along time since we were with that many teenagers, and I have to say how nice it is that all but 2 bow fished! When I was in high school I lived in a small mountain town, and although it's been awhile since I've been back there it was good to be in this kind of country again. It's so pretty there, and so good for Ethyn. I really want to make a point to go back again over the summer.

Now, back to the real world. Like the rest of you, I love wallpaper and have been on the lookout for it. I finally found some (for so long I didn't even know what I was looking for!) I've been able to find some that I like, enough for all of us. If your interested I made up a few bundles (loved Holly's wrapping so much I copied it. Hope you don't mind Holly Doodle! How about if I send you one for the lift?) There are three different wallpapers, the smallest being the floral at 18 1/2" wide and I cut about 18" of it, the dark paper is almost 21" wide and I cut about 12", the largest is a French~Italian tan embossed paper is about 27" wide and you get about 18" of this one. I wrapped them with a page of vintage sheet music and a ribbon. I'm not good at math but you get a bunch of wallpaper in these packs. I am selling these for $10.00 each plus shipping. You can e-mail me at if you're interested.

Show and Tell

My week in pictures:

flea market finds

These little buildings were love and first site. There is a school, a barn, a mercantile, and this sweet church. I'm puting a few of them on esty if you want to take a peek. They reminded me of the little house's Pam altered last Christmas.

Paper dolls taught by Laura Bray, at the June meeting of and The Orange County Altered Book Club I belong to.

These are Laura's above, and my first below. I still have to gussy up her attire a bit more. These are fun, and Laura made them go together licketty split!

This is the start of a little book I will use in a Round Robin myself and a few girls are starting in the next few weeks. Lately I just love the look of Marie Antoinette, and that's the style I am attempting.
